1. This kind of roller type steady rests are used on heavy duty lathes to carry very heavy workpieces with diameter up to the maximum swing over the cross slide of the large horizontal lathe. Roller steady rests are custom made to your special requirements;
2. Bottom of the lathe support roller, made by referring to the dimensions of the bed-ways on the lathe,fits well on the lathe. So you need to provide us the sectional drawing of the bed ways of lathe to receive the roller steady rests;
3. The bases of the lathe roller steady rests are made of high-strength, close-grained and stress-relieved nodular or gray cast iron and sustains high rigidity and high stability on its sizes and shape;
4. Rollers are made of heat-treated AISI 4145H steel, case-hardened to a hardness of HRC 49-52 and ground to a surface roughness no more than Ra0.8µm. Therefore, the support roller allows the workpiece being carried and rotated as a high speed with minimum friction between the rollers and the workpiece;
5. High precision bearings are mounted in the roller assemblies to ensure an accurate and stable supporting for the workpiece;
6. Usually roller steady rests carrying up to 2000mm are supplied, but larger ones can also be custom made as per your request.
