Heavy duty boring mill jaws, used on heavy duty lathes to provide very high clamping forces to hold the heavy and large workpieces. These heavy duty boring mill jaws are widely used on heavy duty horizontal lathes, roll lathes, floor facing lathes, large vertical boring mills, deep hole boring machines, etc..They are custom made to be mounted to the user's lathe chuck. When clamping a workpiece with weight even hundreds metric tons, it can be operated with a small drive torque by the operator and exert a high enough repliable clamping forces to the workpieces to prevent it from slippage under heavy cutting force.
These heavy duty boring mill jaws have a mechanical clamping force boosting screw inside the jaw base. According the clamping forces desired, the diameter and length of the screw is defined. The operator needs to exert a driving torque of only 160 N.M or so to gain a 400KN clamping force from each jaw, thus it needs only one operator to carry out the clamping process on very heavy workpieces, sometimes hundreds of tons.
These heavy duty boring mill jaws made of high quality alloy steels and have been carefully heat-treated and ground on its threads so that the screw can work with high reliability in a long time. The clamping forces on the top jaws are serrated, hardened and ground to contact the workpiece with large areas and ensure a firm clamping without any indent damage to the fine machined surface contacting the jaw faces.
We have successfully provided these heavy duty boring mill jaws to our customers as an effective solutions of clamping the heavy workpieces. Some of our cases are shown below:
